You will leave Nairobi at 7:00 a.m to Sirimon Gate via Nanyuki where you cross equator for the first time and do some experiment on how to detect that you are exactly at the equator point before you proceed to Sirimon Gate where you will have lunch.
Distance from Nairobi to Sirimon Gate is 2,650 meters, and after lunch at Sirimon Gate, you will start the trek to Old Moses Camp, a distance of nine kilometers that take about three to four hours passing through forest of indigenous trees like podocapus trees, douglass fire, red cinder, pine, and then through bamboo and finally to the heath part arriving at the Old Moses Hut at around 2:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.
In the evening, a guide will take you further up for a short distance up to 3,600 meters and then descend back to the hut for dinner and overnight. At the altitude of 3,600 meters, you are completely out of the heath and shrub part to savanna moorland, and here you will be able to see the Laikipia Plateau clearly. Laikipia Plateau is the largest plateau surrounding Mount Kenya.
