Itinerary

Arrive anytime at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). We will arrange a private transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to your Hotel and Hotel is included, We will gather in the hotel for a pre-climb briefing and an equipment check. We will also confirm you have the appropriate mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance. The Kilimanjaro trekking begins and end at moshi.

You and your Mountain Guide as well as support crew will leave in the morning from moshi to Londorossigate (2,200 m) were you will do a normal formality of acquiring climbing pernmits and registration. Then you will start trekking toward your first camp of the route Mti Mkubwa (2,780 m). Raincoats are necessary on this day in particular, as you will be walking through rain-forest. By the time you reach the camp, your professional mountain crews will prepare everything necessary, put tents and cook lunch for you. This will be your first day at this altitude, so it is strongly recommended you heed the following instructions from this point on: Abstain from consuming alcohol and caffeine Drink over 4 liters of bottled water daily (little by little, frequently) Take a Diamox pill to help alleviate symptoms of altitude sickness. Most mountain climbers take Diamox in the morning, before they start their ascent, in order to reduce discomfort associated with altitude sickness. We recommend you consult your doctor prior to the trip in case of potential allergies. Trekking from Londorossi Gate to MtiMkubwa Camp: Change in Elevation: Londorossi Gate (2,200 m) — MtiMkubwa Camp (2,780 m) Hiking distance: 6 km Hiking time: 3–4 hours

The trekking from MtiMkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) is rather easy and will take you for 5-6 hours. While trekking through the fine open moorlands upward until 3,500 meters, you will be in a position to see stunning view of Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano. The trekking of that hours will allow acclimatization process to start gradually. When you reach the camp you will find hot lunch prepared by your Chef. Trekking from MtiMkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp: Change in Elevation: MtiMkubwa Camp (2,780 m) — Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) Hiking distance: 5 km Hiking time: 5–6 hours

The trekking from Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) is not difficult as you will do it slowly while enjoying spectacular view of Africa and the unique flora and fauna of Kilimanjaro. Once you arrive at the camp you will have lunch, and 2 to 3 hours rest which will complete an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp that features a 300 meter gain in altitude. Trekking from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp: Change in Elevation: Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) — Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) Hiking distance: 7 km Hiking time: 3–4 hours Acclimatization hike: Change in Elevation: Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) — Destination point en route to Lava Tower (4,270 m) Hiking distance: 2 km Hiking time: 1–2 hours

In the late morning after your breakfast, you will leave Shira 2 Camp (3,900) and start to walk to Laver Tower (4,630). This section has a lot of ascents and descents that end in a camp at over 5,600 meters. Then you will descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m). Here you can see the famous Barranco Wall, impressive in both its massive size and steepness! Next day you will be climbing it, but don’t worry: it features a very simple hiking trail. Trekking from Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower Camp: Change in Elevation: Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) — Lava Tower (4,630 m) — Barranco Camp (3,960 m) Hiking distance: 12 km Hiking time: 6–8 hours

In and around KarangaAfter early breakfast, you will leave the camp as early as possible for summiting Barranco wall to avoid crowds with other climbers. It will take you an hour hiking and it’s not that much difficult. After the climb you can rest and take some pictures in front of Kibo volcano. The distance is 8kms and the duration is 6 to 7hrs, and the altitude down is 700m. At the camp you will be offered a hot lunch prepared by your chef, then relax for a while before completing an acclimatization hike with a 200 meter gain in altitude, and then descent back to the camp. Trekking from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp: Change in Elevation: Barranco Camp (3,960 m) — Karanga Camp (4,035 m) Hiking distance: 5 km Hiking time: 4–5 hours Acclimatization hike: Change in Elevation: Karanga Camp (4,035 m) — Destination point en route to Barafu Camp (4,270 m) Hiking distance: 2.5 km Hiking time: 1–2 hours

In and around KarangaAfter breakfast in the morning start trekking to Barafu base Camp (4,640 m), the starting point for a night summiting Uhuru Peak (5895 m). Huge glaciers and cliffs can be seen which mark this part of the mountain. The team of crews will set up the tents for you to relax. After regaining strength, you will complete an acclimatization hike towards the Kosovo Summit Camp (4, 400 m) and then back to Barafu Camp, for hot dinner. Here is the last water point, and it better to have a rest and sleeping before night summit. Trekking from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp: Change in Elevation: Karanga Camp (4,035 m) — Barafu Camp (4,640 m) Hiking distance: 6 km Hiking time: 4–5 hour Acclimatization hike: Change in Elevation: Barafu Camp (4,640 m) — Kosovo Camp (4,800 m) Hiking distance: 2 km Hiking time: 1–2 hours

At midnight the trek begins up to the final steep walk gradually up the ridge and around the crater to reach Uhuru peak (5, 895 m). From the summit, the trek descends to the nearest glacier, then you will return to Barafu Camp and after a while you will continue your descend to the Mweka Camp (3,100 m). Note: Don’t forget that 90% of all accidents occur during the descent, including all broken arms and legs. Please pay attention to your feet, as there is a high risk of damaging your toenails.

Covering the last section of the mountain, the trek continues down through the tropical rain-forests to the Mweka Gate (1, 650 m). This morning you will feel a relief from the reduction of height and the pleasure of reaching the summit, and the whole group will gather to congratulate you for satisfaction, and followed by commemorative certificate. This day left for your next destination. If you have safari, then might be used to beginning your safari or fly to Zanzibar or fly back home. Our vehicle will be ready to take you to the airport at your time.
